Required resources
To undertake this test you will require:
- Gym with mats and a bar on which to do pull ups
- Stop watch
- Assistant.
How to conduct the test
The athlete undertakes a series of exercises
with the assistant recording the number of repetitions completed for each
exercise.
A
three minute recovery is allowed between each exercise.
The test comprises of following exercises:
- Chins(pull ups) to maximum
- Press ups to maximum
- Squat thrusts for 1 minute
- Squat jumps for 1 minute
- Sit ups for 2 minutes.
Analysis
The Physical Fitness Index(P.F.I.) is
calculated by adding together the repetitions completed for each exercise and
then dividing the total by five.
Analysis of the result is by comparing it with
the results of previous tests. It is expected that, with appropriate training
between each test, the analysis would indicate an improvement.
Target
group
This test is suitable for active athletes but
not for individuals where the test would be contraindicated.
Reliability
Reliability would depend upon how strict the
test is conducted and the individual’s level of motivation to perform the test.
Validity
No published tables to relate results to
potential performance in competition.
