Human chorionic gonadotropin(hHG)

Biology activity of human chorionic gonadotropin(hHG) is identic as luteinizing hormone(LH). hHG semilife in plasma is lot longer than LH.
Chorionic gonadotropin is created in placenta trophoblasts, very fast after blastocyst initiation, and reaches its maximum 6-8 weeks later. High levels of this hormone are maintained till childbirth, which is needed for normal gravidity maintenance.
Chorionic gonadotropin is isolated from pregnant females urine, for practical needs.
Three day intake of 5000-10000 i.j. hHG causes significant increase of gender steroid hormones secretion.

Appliance in sport

Human chorionic gonadotropine is used in sports to stimulate androgene production. Athletes apply it in two cases. Secretion of male gender hormones increased in this way should lead to wishful anabolic effects, in the period of training and preparations for competition. Suppression of testis secretion created as a result of long term anabolic-androgene steroids use, is reducted or prevented by appliance of hHG. hHG administration as a result has huge growth in testosterone concentration in serume and urinary LH.
Relation testosterone/epitestosterone is not changed in urine under the influence of hHG.

Harmful effects

Abuse of this hormone has same effects like AAS, but gynecomastia can be seen more often.


Use of hHG is prohibited only for males. Humane chorionic gonadotropine can be detected in urine by the use of two various immunoassay methods. Sample is thought to be positive when concentration is above 20 IU/ml.
